MemberI had created a 5 slide project and exported it to an EXE file. I had sent it to a family member and they ran it on their laptop, the presentation never gets passed slide 1. After waiting an extended period of time, pressing the escape key shows the player needs to exit. Normally, I send videos but decided to send the EXE instead.
The major differences between the machines is the screen resolution and processors, listed below.
Slie Effect: 1.12.6b1
Creation Machine: Intel 2 Quad Q6700 with 8GB memory, 1280×1024 resolution
Dell Laptop Studio 1558: i5 Processor with 8GB memory, 1920×1080 resolution
Both machines are running Windows 7 Pro, SP1, x64.Have you seen this type of behaviour/issue before when the EXE is run on another machine than what created it?
Let me know if you need any more info, regarding, the above.
Thanks,

KeymasterIs there any error displayed?
Is it possible for you to run this diagnose tool on the target machine:
– Download the following file:
https://www.slide-effect.com/tools/SlideEffectDiagnose.EXE
– Run it (double-click on it)This tool will do some check on your computer and automatically send a report to us. Please enter your email address so I can find your report in the list.

MemberI downloaded the program and will send it to the person having the Dell Studio Laptop and have them put my email address so you can find it easily.
No, there is no error messages displayed until you try to abort. This is after waiting well past the time the first slide should have advanced, that’s when we pressed the escape key to abort and the message that SE.exe had quit working.

MemberAlain,
You should have received the info from the Dell Studio 1558 laptop. One correction, as it had a i5 processor instead of a i7. When running the EXE presentation, it never advances to the 2nd slide. It just sets there with no error message until you try to exit and then it crashes that the program must exit.
Also note, after running the EXE, the folder, SlideEffectLauncher, is present but running the diagnostics, does not complete, it displays the first two items in green and never advances.
As a test, we installed version, SlideEffect_1.12.5.exe, and opened the actual SEF for the project. After it failed, we ran the diagnostics again and it went through the entire process now that the \SlideEffect\tmp folder exists.
The EXE fails along with the actual SEF, with related files. We used my email and referenced the Dell Studio 1558.
Sorry for the delay in getting you the diagnostics info and let me know if you have questions related to the tests above.
Thanks,

KeymasterHi,
I checked the report, I guess there is an issue with movie codecs.
Can you please try to install the following package on your Dell Studio 1558 laptop and check if it works better?

MemberAlain,
I will check out the codecs. I normally suggest using the K-Lite Codec’s because of different bundles and features available.
http://www.codecguide.com/about_kl.htm
http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htmI will let you know the results.
