Effects not working after presentation loop and slowdowns…

Firstly, thanks for a great piece of software, good stuff indeed.

A few more customisation options would be nice but all in all its very good!

Ive actually recommended it to some shop owners i am know as they need front of house presentations.

Anyhoo, the issues I am having is with effects like “sinus rotation” not being implemented after the first run.

Also, after running the application for some time, the presentation starts to slow down and become very choppy. Restarting the application solves this, but in practice the looping presentation needs to run for 7 hours without the need for human intervention.

Also, the exe and screensaver export works, but on running the outputted file, i get a user lib not found error. (I believe this may have been commented on in another thread but refers to Vista, whereas I am on XP).

I am running it on XP, 1gig ram, Nvidia 7300se (256mb?) and with nothing else installed except open office and photoshop. Its basically a stock, out of the box Acer Extensa E series with an AMD Semperon processor.

It runs nice and smoothly for 3-4 hours then gets unstable. I don’t believe its a heat issue as one restarted it’s fine again for another few hours.

Any advice you have would be great, and is there any issue running the app in a commercial premesis?

About the issues:

– Effects like “sinus rotation” not implemented after the first run: I think I have corrected this issue in the upcomming version, but I will give it a try once again this evening.

– After running the application for some time, the presentation starts to slow down and become very choppy: yep, probably a memory leak (presentation takes more and more memory each time it loops…) I will take a look on that also. I understand it is a bit annoying if you use it on your shop. I have no immediate solution for you, but the next version is close to be released (in fact it is planned for tommorow, so I will try to correct that for this deadline)

– “running the outputted file, i get a user lib not found error.”: can you give me the exact error message? This problem is a bit strange, nobody reported it to me. Did your presentation have background music enabled?

– is there any issue running the app in a commercial premesis? No issues, you can run it on your shop: Slide Effect is made to be used ! 😉

I will delay the new release to work on these issues, I will keep you informed.

Thank you for your prompt relpy, its a nice change to have great customer service!

The Screensaver/Stand alone EXE outputs ok and installs ok, but when run the screen goes blank and it gives a small “ERROR” box containing “User lib not found!”.

I’ll try it on another machine and will see if i can get it to work.

BTW your planets screensave works fine.

I just tried it again on an entirely sperate and different machine (also XP) and I get the same error.

I compiled the stand alone screensaver to the desktop (naming it screen and screen.exe)

When it installed it installed to C:\Program Files\Screen

in there are two folders.

1 tmp <-----contains my images 2 data <-----contains standard textures, many of which are not used in my presentation and 5 other files including the exe. I have tried moving the exe to windows and windows/system32 to no avail. Hope this info helps rgds LoK BTW we are using your software in a Nightclub over 8 of our 16 plasma screens. Traditionally, I would be hired to make looping videos in High-end Video editing software. Now half the screens run my "proper" videos and the rest are running your slide effect software, which can be easily edited by the other staff for weekly promotions etc. It's very good software indeed, simple but with impressive results. If we can get rid of the memory leak, we will continue to use it on a daily basis, regardless of other bugs. 🙂

– About the sinus effect not being replayed when presentation restart: it is fixed.
– About the memory leaks: I found something with texts. It should be ok now. (or at least it should run longer 🙂 )
– About the “User lib not found”: I really don’t understand why you have this behavior. I checked the code and exported several time on Vista & XP and everything seems to be ok on my side. Is it possible for you to send/share the faulty exported presentation, so I can give it a try?

I have created an updated 1.4.0 beta version with all these enhancements, if you have time, please try to export your presentation with it to check if it works better.. And if you have (much) more time, check if the memory leak is gone.

Hello there,

Just to let you know the beta full version is running fine and I’m stress testing it at the moment.

Also I’ve improved our presentation alot with the new effects, especially the rotate function on images.

The only issue i’ve noticed is when moving small text sometimes you accidently rotate it, as the selection area for the rotate function is large. Clicking on the top right corner of the item makes it easeir to move.

Again, great software.

I think I found the issue with your “User lib not found” error: It seems you put a music on your presentation, then, later, removed it. This case was not handled correctly on my side.

I did some correction and I will update the beta version this evening.

About the rotation issue: I know it could become tricky with small texts/pictures. In your case you can right-click on the object and choose “Rotation”->”Horizontal” to reset the rotation angle.

In the future I will probably change the rotation handle to be smaller.

BTW: Keep me informed about the memory leak issue.

Hmmmm, i have no recollection of adding any music, especially as the screens we use dont cater for sound.

Perhaps I may have by mistake, but not to my knowlegde.

The memory leak, unfortunatly, is still there and slow down occours after about 4 hours.

BUT it is much better than before, just not gone completely.

I will try out the new beta tomorrow.

I did some test regarding the memory leak over the weekend. Unfortunately, I did not find the source of the problem yet. (I don’t say there is no problem, I am just unable to find the source and reproduce it)

I will do some more test this afternoon, then I think I will release the official 1.4.0 this evening, because it fixes a lot of (more) important issues and add a lot of new features.

Then I will go back to your issue.
